HIV monitoring
If you have started treatment, your doctor will routinely monitor your blood to see if your treatment is still working or to see if you have developed resistance to treatment. If you have not started therapy, blood monitoring is critical to make sure your viral load and CD4 count are still at near normal levels or to determine whether you should start HIV therapy. Whether you are being treated with HIV medications or not, try not to miss any appointments or blood tests, since these are the ways to make sure that you are on course and taking control of your HIV.
Even if you don’t feel sick, it’s still important to see your healthcare provider – he or she is your partner in your health, but remember, “it takes two to tango”, and without your active participation, no one can really help you.
